What we do
Cave Barn Meadows
In 2010 we harvested green hay from a nearby species-rich meadow and spread it on two meadows totalling 3.8 ha that had lost some of their botanical diversity. The photo shows the green hay being spread. Harvesting meadow seed as green hay is a very effective method. The two meadows are now being managed in a traditional way and over time will become restored to their former glory. We will be re-surveying them and carrying out seed addition on another field in 2011. The meadows can be seen from the public footpath on the opposite bank of the river Skirfare.
